It doesn't get a whole lot more straightforward than this:
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 c sugar
- In a small pot, melt butter until lightly browned.
- Stir in cream and sugar.
- Keep stirring until boiling, and desired consistency is reached. About 3-4 minutes.
This caramel sauce works great with our banana cake. When the cake is ready, use a toothpick to add holes evenly around the surface. Pour caramel over, and let rest in pan for an hour.
